The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) held the Class 10 second board exams from May 15 to 21, 2026. Since the conclusion of the exams, students
who appeared to improve their scores in certain subjects have been waiting for the declaration of the results. Although the board hasn’t provided an official schedule for the result declaration, it has said that the scores will be released soon. According to the official data shared by CBSE, a total of 668,854 candidates registered for the CBSE Class 10 second board examinations. Of these, 266,209 are female candidates, 402,643 are male candidates, and the remaining two are from the 'Other' category. The official data illustrates that, out of the total students who appeared for the CBSE Class 10 main annual exams, 27.06% opted for a second chance. Explaining the rationale behind this, Mr Praneet Mungali, educationist and Trustee at the Sanskriti Group of Schools, where 19 out of 229 students signed up, said, “Most students selecting a second attempt are not unhappy in an ordinary sense, but are trying to get the marks they had set for themselves. Their decision is a reflection of their own motivation and desire to satisfy themselves and achieve academic excellence.” Students’ active participation in the second board exams is also driven by their willingness to improve their scores in Science and Mathematics. “I did well, but I know I can score better in Maths,” one student at DPS Vasant Kunj told Times Now Digital earlier. “I scored above 90%, but one subject affected my average,” another admitted.
