A light-hearted moment between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has captured attention online during the Indian leader's
historic visit to Slovakia. A video shared on PM Modi's official Instagram account showed the two leaders sporting matching jackets, prompting a cheerful exchange that quickly resonated with social media users. In the clip, the two leaders can be seen greeting each other warmly with a hug before noticing their similar outfits. PM Modi is heard saying, "What a coincidence, colour combination." A text overlay on the video reads, "I think Prime Minister Fico looks great wearing this jacket. What do you think?" Sharing the video, PM Modi revealed that the jacket worn by the Slovak leader had been gifted by him earlier. The post was captioned, "Prime Minister Fico wore a jacket I had gifted him. And, coincidentally our jacket colours matched today! @robert.fico."
The video has since gone viral on social media, garnering more than one million views, over 60,000 likes, and thousands of comments from users who appreciated the friendly interaction between the two leaders.
The moment came during PM Modi's state visit to Slovakia from June 14 to June 16, undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Fico. The visit is particularly significant as it marks the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993.
During the visit, PM Modi invited Robert Fico to visit India, expressing delight that the Slovak leader had publicly accepted the invitation.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders held extensive discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across a range of sectors. Their talks covered trade and investment, defence and security, technology and innovation, talent mobility, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides also reviewed the full spectrum of India-Slovakia relations and explored new opportunities for future collaboration.
