‘Dahi vada’ lovers might not want to watch this video going viral– for all the wrong and disgusting reasons! The internet was left disturbed after yet
another incident came forward and raised endless questions against roadside food safety and hygiene in India. The video in question showed a food vendor casually reselling leftover ‘dahi vada’ to customers in Odisha’s Keonjhar. The incident was reported from Champua town near a local bus stand, where the vendor was allegedly caught mixing partially eaten ‘dahi bara’, left behind by customers, back into the serving container before selling them again to unsuspecting buyers. Reportedly, the act was caught on camera after a bystander spotted the vendor in the middle of the questionable act. As soon as the video was shared online, it went viral and left many irked. The outrage in the locality where the owner sets up his stall was also strong enough that the authorities finally took action against the vendor. Reportedly, the Champua Police, along with officials from the local NAC administration, rushed to the spot and conducted a raid. The authorities ultimately ended up seizing unsold ‘dahi bara’, along with other food items, utensils, and the rest of the materials from the shop. Video Raises Concerns; Officials React “Based on public complaints and the viral video, we conducted a raid at the dahi bara shop, where we found certain evidence. All food items present at the stall were seized and destroyed. The materials from the shop have been confiscated and deposited at the local police station,”the Food and Sanitation Officer Jiban Behera said. The accused vendor, identified as Ramakanta Khuntia, has now been detained. An investigation has also been launched into the matter. Watch the viral video:
