The Indian stock market is closed for two trading sessions this week, meaning that in the five trading sessions, BSE and NSE are open only for three days.
The Indian stock market will remain closed on 31 March 2026 (Tuesday) on account of Shri Mahavir Jayanti. The second holiday of this week is on April 3, 2026, which marks Good Friday. On April 3, major global markets, including the US stock market, will also be shut. Stock market witnessed a steep fall on Monday as both the Sensex and Nifty faced intense selling pressure for the second straight session. The sell-off led to wiping off around Rs 7 lakh crore from the total market capitalisation of all companies listed on BSE, dragging it down to Rs 415 lakh crore.
