Iran, after the suspension of trade ties by the UAE, has responded heavily to the accusations of a missile strike, calling them "baseless", according to state
media reports. The UAE suspended all trade and financial ties with the Iranian side, accusing Tehran of launching missiles towards their territory. Reports said that in a press conference by Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, he rejected the accusations of the missile strike. He reportedly called the allegations contrary to the principle of good neighbour principles and harmful to regional efforts to build trust, calling on Gulf countries to refrain from making "baseless accusations" against Tehran. State media reports say that he even blamed actions by the United States and Israel for the complicated security situation in the region. Following the alleged missile strike, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that "in light of regional escalations., all trade, commercial exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran have been halted until further notice." Earlier, UAE's Defence Ministry said its air defence systems had detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward the country, with both missiles falling into the sea, with one landing inside UAE territorial waters, and the other outside. In a post on X, the ministry said it remained on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any potential threat. Iran could also be facing natural gas shortages in several provinces this winter after damage to the country’s gas infrastructure during the war with the United States, Iranian officials have warned. Houshang Seydali, director of gas distribution coordination at the National Iranian Gas Company, said several provinces could experience supply problems unless authorities adopt strong and coordinated measures ahead of the winter season. “Without strong, coherent and coordinated plans, several provinces could experience gas-supply problems,” Seydali said, according to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.
