What is the story about?
Mumbai: Mumbai woke up to an unusually hot morning on Wednesday, with temperatures already touching 31 degrees C around 6 am. Weather officials say such
high temperatures so early in the day indicate strong heat conditions building across the city. According to the India Meteorological Department, the mercury may rise further during the day and could reach close to 40°C in some parts of Mumbai. The early rise in temperature has raised concerns of continued heatwave conditions in several suburbs.
Forecast Shows Hot, Weather Forecast Ahead
Weather forecasts show that several parts of Mumbai are likely to experience hot and humid weather under mainly clear skies.
In Chembur, the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 37°C, while the minimum may stay near 24°C. The forecast for the day indicates clear skies along with hot and humid conditions.
Similar weather is expected in Borivali, Mulund and Santacruz, where the maximum temperature is also likely to remain around 37°C with minimum temperatures near 24°C.
Heatwave Conditions Recorded Tuesday
Just a day earlier, on March 10, several Mumbai suburbs had already experienced heatwave conditions.
Areas including Chembur, Borivali, Mulund and Santacruz recorded maximum temperatures close to 39°C on Monday, prompting heatwave warnings from the weather department.
These temperatures were significantly higher than normal for early March.
South Mumbai Slightly Cooler
While many suburban areas are experiencing intense heat, parts of South Mumbai are expected to remain slightly cooler.
