Chennai: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan's residence in the Poes Garden area of Chennai was the latest target of a bomb threat, authorities confirmed.
The threat was received via email at the office of the Director General of Police (DGP), sources told Times Now. Immediately after receiving the alert, the bomb disposal squad, assisted by sniffer dogs, conducted a thorough search of the premises. Officials confirmed that no explosives were found, and the threat was declared a hoax.
Over the past few days, several prominent personalities in Tamil Nadu, including politicians and actors, have received similar bomb threats. In all reported cases, the threats have turned out to be false, creating a pattern of what authorities are calling a menace in the state.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the origins of these hoax threats. While the police are following strict protocols in each case, they have yet to identify the individuals or groups responsible. Earlier, bomb threat emails were reportedly sent to the Chief Minister's residence, Raj Bhavan, the Madras High Court, and the homes of public figures, including actress Trisha.
The police have intensified their probe, but as of now, the perpetrators behind these repeated false threats remain unidentified.
