It seems like grey clouds, winds and thunderstorms will continue to prevail over Kolkata, West Bengal, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has
issued a weather alert for Kolkata, West Bengal, warning residents of impending thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected to impact the city throughout the day. As the monsoon progresses, these weather patterns are likely to bring significant rainfall and disruptions to daily activities. According to the IMD, Kolkata and its surrounding districts can anticipate severe thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds reaching 50 to 60 kilometres per hour. Residents are advised to remain indoors during the peak storm activity to ensure safety. The IMD attributes these weather changes to a favourable wind pattern and moisture influx from the Bay of Bengal. This combination is expected to cause heavy rainfall across various southern districts of West Bengal, including Kolkata, Howrah, and North and South 24 Parganas.
