As anticipation builds for next week’s India AI Impact Summit, an unexpected frenzy has gripped New Delhi, not for computing power or breakthrough algorithms,
but for ultra-luxury hotel rooms. With thousands of global delegates heading to the capital, the city’s most exclusive accommodations are being booked at eye-watering rates, some surpassing $30,000 per night, according to a Bloomberg report. The summit is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile AI gatherings yet, drawing industry heavyweights, heads of state and policymakers from across the globe. The rush of VIP guests has triggered a surge in hospitality, pushing nightly tariffs to nearly 15 times their typical levels, it added. Global AI Powerhouses Head To Delhi The event’s guest list reads like a who’s who of artificial intelligence. Among those expected are Sundar Pichai of Alphabet Inc., Sam Altman of OpenAI, Jensen Huang of Nvidia Corp., and Dario Amodei of Anthropic PBC. They will join senior government officials, entrepreneurs and technology executives from over 100 countries. Organisers expect thousands of attendees, including around a dozen heads of state, numerous ministers and representatives, and chief executives from roughly 40 Indian and global companies. With seven marquee sessions and dozens of panel discussions planned, the summit promises to be a landmark moment for India’s AI ambitions, the report states. Luxury Suites Sell Out At Record Prices The hospitality scramble has been intense. The Presidential Suite at Taj Palace, widely regarded as one of the capital’s most opulent stays, has already been booked for $33,000 per night, according to the report. Meanwhile, the premier suite at The Oberoi is priced at $27,600 a night. At ITC Maurya, the famed Chanakya Suite commands a similarly lofty tariff. A spokeswoman for ITC Hotels Ltd. did not respond to an email asking for comment. All three hotels are operating at full capacity. Even standard rooms at the Taj Palace are listed at $3,500 per night, which shows how demand has outpaced supply, states the report. Beyond Accommodation These elite suites offer far more than a place to sleep. The Chanakya Suite at ITC Maurya, which has previously hosted Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama, features bulletproof windows, museum-quality artwork, marble bathrooms and private fitness facilities, all under diplomatic-grade security. The Presidential Suite at the Taj Palace includes a 12-seat dining area, a private pantry, an expansive master bedroom with its own garden and round-the-clock butler service. For many attendees, simply securing a room in Delhi now rivals the extravagance of high-end global experiences, including luxury cruise offerings priced in the thousands per day.
