Bihar Police have arrested four people in Muzaffarpur for allegedly running a racket that sold fake question papers of competitive examinations, including
the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG), to students and their parents through social media platforms, reports PTI. The accused have been identified as Harsh, Aman Kumar, Kanhaiya Kumar and Harsh Kanodiya. According to police, the four were apprehended on Saturday evening, and three mobile phones were seized during the operation. According to PTI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kantesh Kumar Mishra said the accused were part of a network that targeted aspirants and anxious parents by falsely claiming they had access to question papers for various examinations. The group allegedly used social media channels to spread their claims and lure victims into paying money in exchange for the purported papers. According to investigators, Jha's interrogation led police to uncover the involvement of the four men arrested on Saturday. Authorities believe the group worked in coordination to deceive examination aspirants by promising access to question papers ahead of exams. Police officials said that during questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to using social media to approach students and parents. They reportedly collected payments through online bank transfers, after which the money was passed on to Manish Jha. The case highlights the recurring issue of fraudsters exploiting the anxiety surrounding high-stakes examinations such as NEET-UG. Authorities have repeatedly cautioned students and parents against falling prey to claims related to leaked question papers or guaranteed access to exam content. The police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the full extent of the network and identify whether more individuals were involved in the operation. Officials are also examining digital evidence recovered from the seized mobile phones. Further investigation into the case is underway. (With inputs from PTI).
