Waterlogging, flooding, nonstop heavy rains– are not exactly something new for Mumbai. In fact, ever since the issue of extreme weather has started taking
an ‘extreme’ turn, the city has also started witnessing a pure hell almost every year. As soon as monsoon arrives, Mumbai becomes all about traffic that not only slows down but comes to a standstill, schools, colleges, and offices shut down, even the heart of the city- its local trains- get disrupted every monsoon- all thanks to Mumbai turning into Venice that hardly anyone wants to visit. However, what if Mumbai one day manages to turn this issue into its greatest asset? Running its imagining wilder- for probably a billionth time- an AI-generated video of a ‘2035 Mumbai’ was shared online. The AI video showed a ‘Mumbai of the future’, which eventually molded itself into a city that learned to live with tides. The clip showed inflatable trains, Gateway ferry lines, double-decker cruises, skywalks and speedboats, water rickshaws, and more. All in all, the city looked like a perfect combination of technology and submerged settlement. The clip went viral in an instant, leaving netizens reacting in multiple ways. Most found the video impressive, while the rest highlighted the importance and need for a well-planned drainage system.
Watch the viral video:
“The year is 2035, and Mumbai didn’t stop the floods—it turned them into a lifestyle. Locals ride ‘Floatal Trains’ with lifejackets, dabbawalas deliver in submarines, vada pav buoys float by, and Bollywood premieres happen on rafts. Even weddings sail in on shikaras. Mumbai didn’t sink—it just found a new way to live with the tide,” the post read.

Internet's reaction:
“Still people will fight over language,” a user said. “Instaed, I believe we should do something about the city’s drainage system. Video does look nice, but this is not the solution,” added another person.
“All I can think of is stinky gutter water with crap floating in it, mosquitos etc,” added another person. “Now this is what I call the correct use of AI. The city does look very advanced,” added another person.

“This is truly going to happen in Mumbai,” wrote another person. “Are we doing over with reporting…this is an every year ordeal for the past 30 years. With heavy rains and high tide you cannot get water out of Mumbai…..unless you find another drainage solution,” added another.
