Before Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s first student convention in Kota, he remarked on Monday (June 15) that each paper leak and scrapped examination not
only reflects a ‘system failure’ but also is a blow to the dreams of millions of the country’s youth. Taking to his X handle, he wrote, “One thing I want to say to every young person in this country - today, in this nation, it's not the fruit of hard work that you get, but punishment for daring to dream,” in Hindi. The Leader of the Opposition then asked the youth to stand up for themselves, assuring them that he has their back. “I know you're exhausted. You're angry. But remember this - when the government refuses to listen, you have to raise your voice louder.” Gandhi urged students from across Kota to join his student convention on June 17, 2026, to air their concerns regarding frequent debacles in consequential examinations.
For the uninitiated, the LoP is steering a series of large-scale student conventions, bringing together students, aspirants, youth organisations, educators, and all those affected by recent exam scandals, starting on June 17, 2026.
Besides Kota, the conventions will be held across various cities, including Allahabad on July 10, Patna on July 11, and Delhi on July 14, 2026.
The campaign aims to underscore the difficulties being faced by the youth whose futures are constantly being jeopardised by paper leaks, rising examination costs, and the government’s failure to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment and education system, according to KC Venugopal.
As per the INC’s official statement, the movement will take to the streets the demands earlier articulated by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, including the decentralisation of NEET, the abolition of examination fees, strict legal action against those involved in paper leak rackets, and accountability at the highest levels of government, including the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has taken full responsibility for the NEET UG paper leak, assuring all that no such irregularities will occur going forward. To ensure the foolproofness of Re-NEET, the IAF has been roped in for paper transportation, and the paper-setters will likely remain in lockdown until the re-examination takes place on June 21, 2026.
