As PM Narendra Modi became India's longest-serving Prime Minister, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor congratulated him, calling his achievement a "powerful
testament" to his leadership. In a post on X, Gor hailed PM Modi's decades of dedicated public service, and wished him the best. "Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. This achievement is a powerful testament to his decades of dedicated public service and leadership! Wishing him all the best!" Gor said.
Wishes pour in from across the world
US Senator John Cornyn also congratulated the Prime Minister, citing India's economic growth and efforts in lifting millions out of poverty.
In a post on X, Cornyn wrote, "Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi on becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister -- 4,399 days of leadership earned through the trust of 1.4 billion people across three democratic mandates. From lifting 250 million out of poverty to making India the world's fastest-growing major economy, PM Modi's tenure has been nothing short of transformational. The US-India partnership has never been stronger."
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in a letter, conveyed the congratulations of the government and the people of Sri Lanka to Prime Minister Modi. “This milestone is a testament not only to your years in office but also to the trust and confidence that the people of the world’s largest democracy have repeatedly placed in your leadership,” Dissanayake said, as per the PMO statement.
Israel Ambassador Reuven Azar also congratulated PM Modi for transforming the Indian economy.
On Wednesday, PM Modi surpassed former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India. He has now served 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing Nehru's record of 4,398 consecutive days.
