New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday joined Independent MP Pappu Yadav and other INDIA bloc leaders in staging a symbolic skit inside
the Parliament complex over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, while also protesting the police crackdown on students during the July 20 "Sansad Chalo" march. The protest took place in front of Makar Dwar of Parliament, where Opposition MPs raised slogans such as "Amit Shah istifa do", "Amit Shah sadan mein aao" and "chadhawa chor, gaddi chorh", demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and questioning his absence from House proceedings. As part of the demonstration, donation boxes were placed on the steps of Makar Dwar, while Pappu Yadav, dressed in saffron robes, sat beside them. In the skit, Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition MPs dropped money into the donation boxes, following which Yadav was seen slipping the cash into his pockets to symbolically depict the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was also present during the protest, along with Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party MPs Awadhesh Prasad and Dharmendra Yadav, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Mahua Maji, among several other INDIA bloc lawmakers.
The MPs stood behind a large banner reading, "Amit Shah Sadan Se Gayab Kyun?", reiterating their demand that the Home Minister respond to the Opposition's allegations in Parliament.
The protest comes amid an escalating confrontation between the Opposition and the Centre over two key issues - the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the police action against students who marched towards Parliament on July 20 over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
The INDIA bloc has accused the government of remaining silent on both issues and has vowed to continue raising them inside and outside Parliament. The Opposition has repeatedly demanded Amit Shah's resignation, alleging that excessive force was used against student protesters during the "Sansad Chalo" march while also seeking accountability over the alleged temple donation theft.
