Nashik: Rail traffic on the Mumbai route was delayed on Thursday morning after an empty coach of a goods train went off the tracks at Nandgaon railway
station in Nashik district of Maharashtra. The incident happened around 07:17 am and caused delays for at least five long-distance trains headed to Mumbai, according to railway officials who said there were no injuries, according to a TOI report. Ajay Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager of Bhusawal Division said the incident took place while the goods train was headed towards Daund. “It was an empty rake that got derailed. The railway authorities are on the spot getting the coach re-railed at the earliest. This is the morning time. There are long-distance trains that are waiting to reach Mumbai,” said the officer. The disruption occurred during the busy morning period, which is critical for the longest trains that reach Mumbai during this time. As a result, key trains, the 22222 Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani Express, 12718 Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand Express, 11012 Dhule-Mumbai Express, 12262 Howrah-Mumbai Duronto Express and 12142 Patna-LTT Patliputra Express trains were help up. Authorities indicated delays could be as long as three hours for some services. “This is the morning rush of arriving long-distance trains. Our teams are prioritising the re-railing of the affected coach to return to normal traffic as quickly as possible,” a railway spokesperson spokesperson added.
