Mumbai: Public transportation in Mumbai is geared up to facilitate New Year celebrations on December 31 and January 1, with several services scheduled
to operate overnight. Metro Line-3 is set to run through the night, while the Western Railway (WR), Central Railway (CR) and BEST will also operate special services. Aqua Line Services on New Year's Eve To ensure safe and convenient travel for commuters, Metro Line-3—popularly known as the Aqua Line—will extend its services on December 31, operating from 10:30 pm on December 31, 2025, until 5:55 am on January 1, 2026. In a release, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation said that regular services on the corridor will resume from 5:55 am.
Central Railway Services on Wednesday
The Central Railway (CR) has announced that it will run four supplementary services—two on the Main Line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan, and two on the Harbour Line between CSMT and Panvel.
Western Railway Special Trains on December 31
The Western Railway (WR) said on X that it will operate four special local trains during the night of December 31, 2025, and the morning of January 1, 2026, between Churchgate (CCG) and Virar (VR).

These additional trains will run after the scheduled timetable, Hindustan Times reported. The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel will also be deployed at stations close to the seafront, including Churchgate, Marine Lines and Charni Road, according to the report. Stations such as CSMT, Dadar and Bandra will also be monitored for safety reasons.
BEST Bus Schedule for New Year's day
Extra buses will also operate during night hours across the city. BEST will run special bus services on Wednesday night to help commuters travelling to various seafront locations in Mumbai to ring in the New Year.
“We will operate additional bus routes C-86, 203 and 231, as well as air-conditioned bus routes A-21, A-112, A-116, A-247, A-272 and A-294 from 10 pm to 1.30 am,” a BEST official said.
