New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to host an exclusive dinner for all MPs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on December 11, according
to a senior BJP leader. This dinner forms a facet of efforts to encourage an open and constructive exchange of ideas among alliance partners as the Winter Session of the Parliament progresses. The proposed dinner expects the participation of senior ministers, floor leaders and MPs from all constituent parties of the alliance meeting in discussions pertaining to legislative priorities, the government’s approach for the Winter Session, and the NDA’s political vision. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the discussions are likely to include strategies for the Assembly elections scheduled for the first half of next year in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam, with coalition partners predicted to streamline their strategy ahead of the polls.
Ahead of the West Bengal elections
Approaching the crucial polls in West Bengal in March and April 2026, the BJP has heightened its organisational activities. These include the Prime Minister’s address in the Nadia district at a major public programme on the December 20, predicted strategy meetings amidst Bengal leadership to assess campaign messaging, organisational response and overarching electoral strategy, and Parivartan Yatras across the state in January. The party is prepared to undertake four to six of these yatras, each focused on various aspects of BJP’s election strategy, including strengthening outreach to the grassroots, mobilising cadre support and reiterating concerns raised against the state government under Mamata Banerjee. The Prime Minister is expected to address the gathering at one of these programmes.
Assessment of SIR
The NDA dinner may additionally include discussions on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted by the Election Commission of India across several states and Union Territories.
The second phase of the SIR covers Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The final voter list will be published on February 21, 2026. The first phase was earlier completed in Bihar ahead of its Assembly polls.
Draft electoral rolls are expected to be released on December 9, and will be followed by a claims and objections period until January 8,2026. The final rolls are expected on February 7, 2026,after the hearing period that will take place between December 9 and January 31, 2026.
