Bengaluru Inspector Caught with Bribe: The Karnataka Lokayukta on Thursday (January 29) caught a Bengaluru Police Inspector red-handed while accepting
a bribe of Rs 4 lakh. Lokayukta officials had laid a trap after an individual alleged that the inspector had called him to the Chamarajpet Central Armed Reserve (CAR) grounds with the money. The accused was immediately arrested, and an FIR (First Information Report) was registered under the relevant sections. The inspector has been identified as Govindaraju of the KP Agrahara Police Station. According to the complaint, he had promised Mohammed Akbar, a city-based builder, that he would help with a criminal case only if Akbar paid a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The builder claimed he had already paid Rs 1 lakh on January 24 during a meeting near Sirsi Circle. However, the inspector continued to pressurise him to pay the remaining amount today (January 29).
