Brookline High School was placed under a precautionary lockdown for about 40 minutes on Thursday morning after an unverified threat was made over the phone,
school and police officials said. The lockdown began around 11 am when the school received a threatening phone call. Around the same time, Brookline police were also alerted. As a safety measure, the entire school campus was immediately secured. In an email sent to parents at 11.14 am, head of School Anthony Meyer informed families that all students were placed in lockdown with staff members. He clearly instructed that no students or staff should move around inside the building or campus. Meyer also urged parents not to come to the school to pick up their children while the situation was being assessed. He said an update would be shared as soon as more information became available.
What Triggered The Lockdown?
Brookline police said the lockdown was ordered “out of an abundance of caution.” In a post shared on social media, police said that officers and school officials were on the scene and actively responding to the situation.
Despite the threatening phone call, police said that there was no confirmed danger to students or staff at that time. Officers worked with school administrators to investigate the call and ensure the building was safe.
