In a massive crackdown on organised crime across the National Capital, Delhi Police arrested 854 people, including 280 gangsters linked to major and minor
criminal networks, during a 48-hour intensive operation dubbed ‘Operation Gang Bust’. The operation, carried out across Delhi and three other states, saw the participation of over 9,000 police personnel, officials said. According to police, 4,299 hideouts were raided simultaneously across multiple districts to dismantle gang modules, curb organised crime and prevent inter-gang rivalry. As part of the drive, police registered 690 new cases, seized around 300 illegal arms and 130 rounds of ammunition, and rounded up more than 6,400 suspects for verification and questioning. Senior officers said the coordinated action targeted criminals involved in extortion, contract killings, illegal arms supply and other organised offences operating across state borders. A press conference on the operation is scheduled at 11:30 am at the Media Centre, PHQ, where Vijay Singh, Joint CP (Northern Range), Jatin Narwal, Joint CP (Western Range), and Pramod Singh Kushwah, Additional CP (Special Cell) will brief the media on the details and outcomes of the operation. Police said further action is underway and more arrests and recoveries are expected as follow-up investigations continue.
