US President Donald Trump's public approval ratings are declining sharply, with his net approval rating in negative territory in 47 of the 50 states, according
to reports. According to reports, only three states- Wyoming, Idaho and West Virginia- currently have a positive net approval rating for Trump. Estimates suggest, Trump has a net approval of +14 in Wyoming, +9 in Idaho and +6 in West Virginia. All three states are Republican strongholds and backed Trump by large margins in the 2024 presidential election. Reports say, Trump's weakest numbers are in Washington DC, where his net approval stands at -83. Maryland and Vermont follow at -50 each. According to reports, Trump also has deeply negative numbers in several traditionally Democratic states, including New York (-46), Washington (-42), Illinois (-41), California (-34) and New Jersey (-34).Trump's net approval is also negative in several states that are important to Republican electoral prospects, said reports. His rating stands at -18 in Florida, -26 in Pennsylvania, -25 in North Carolina, -26 in Ohio, -28 in Wisconsin and -31 in Georgia. According to reports, the figures are particularly significant with the 2026 US midterm elections approaching, as Republicans will be defending their majorities in Congress. Data has also shown Trump's approval under pressure. According to the latest poll, 36% of Americans approve of his job performance, while 57% disapprove. Reports say, Trump's approval has fallen sharply among independent voters, while his strongest support continues to come from Republicans. The state-level figures are estimates rather than individual polls conducted separately in every state, and the estimates use national YouGov polling along with demographic, voting and state-level data, said reports.
