The CISR UGC NET 2025 question paper has been allegedly leaked in Haryana's Sonipat. The question paper was allegedly leaked a day before the exam. As
per the schedule, CSIR UGC NET 2025 was conducted on December 18, 2025 by the National testing Agency (NTA). This alleged paper leak has attracted sharp criticism from opposition political parties and aspirants. "The BJP government in Haryana has once again proven to be completely unsuccessful in preventing paper leaks. The paper of a prestigious national exam like CSIR UGC NET coming out before the exam is not just an isolated incident, but a deep blow to the education system and a serious proof of administrative negligence," said Kumari Selja, General Secretary, Indian National Congress (INC). Calling it 'open injustice' for youth who put in all their efforts in preparing for these competitive examinations, she added that, "It is extremely concerning that reports have emerged of question papers surfacing before the exam, students being extorted for 3 to 4 lakh rupees, and organized solving being arranged, yet the government's monitoring system has failed entirely." She blamed the ruling government of the state, Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), for repeated paper leaks. "Under the BJP government's rule, Haryana is repeatedly becoming a hub of paper leaks, recruitment scams, and exam irregularities. There is no strictness in policies, no accountability, and no seriousness regarding the future of the youth," she tweeted on her official 'X' (earlier known as Twitter) account. Selja also asked the Haryana government to explain 'how was the confidentiality of the exam breached', 'who is responsible behind this entire network', and 'why has no concrete action been taken despite repeated paper leaks'. This is not the first time the integrity of this exam has been questioned. In June 2024, the Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam was postponed or rescheduled, but the Union Education Minister and the National Testing Agency explicitly stated there was no leak and that the postponement was due to logistical issues, and not because there was a paper leak.
Why is CSIR UGC NET Conducted
The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research - University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC NET) exam is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for eligibility for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and Assistant Professorship (Lectureship) in science subjects.
This exam covers five basic sciences: Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. This year, the exam was held on December 18 in two shifts (morning 9 AM-12 PM, evening 3 PM-6 PM)
