The Maharashtra Board class 12 board exam 2026 registration deadline has been extended. This extension comes after a lot of students faced difficulties
in filling the form due to the severe flood situation. The deadline extension announcement was made by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on September 29. The minister, Shinde, received calls from numerous students and parents in flood-affected areas. Talking to ANI reporters, the minister shared, "I was getting calls from many students and farmer parents in the flood-affected areas. They were saying that due to the flood situation, it is not possible for the 12th-standard students to fill out the exam form. Tomorrow is the last date to fill out the 12th standard exam form." After getting multiple calls from students who demanded an extension in class 12 form-filling, Shinde spoke to Education Minister Dada Bhuse to extend the deadline. Also Read:Maharashtra Schools and Colleges Were Closed in Palghar District "I understood the situation and spoke to the Education Minister Dada Bhuse over the phone, and considering the difficulties of the parents and students, the exam date of the 12th standard students was postponed to October 20. Due to this, many students will get relief," he further added.
What happened in Maharashtra?
The state witnessed floods this month that caused significant disruptions. The schools and colleges were shut, and internet services were also affected in a few areas. ANI reports that many students lost their study materials, books, and notes, further exacerbating their situation.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall. On Sunday, Deputy CM Shinde said officials are on alert and ready to manage heavy rainfall following the ongoing flood situation in the Marathwada region.
Schools in Maharashtra's Palghar were ordered to remain shut on September 28 after a red alert was issued by the weather department due to heavy downpour. The order applies to all Anganwadis, government and private primary and secondary schools, Zilla Parishad schools, municipal schools, aided and unaided schools, Ashram schools, and colleges.
