If the meeting takes place, it would mark the first face-to-face interaction between PM Modi and Trump in nearly one-and-a-half years. The possible talks between the leaders of India and the United States are being closely watched amid shifting global geopolitical and economic dynamics.
According to the report, Trump is expected to focus on issues such as artificial intelligence, global trade, crime control and reducing dependence on China during the G7 discussions. The US administration is reportedly pushing for wider adoption of American AI technologies globally and wants to weaken China’s grip over critical mineral supply chains.
These issues are expected to figure prominently in any potential Modi-Trump meeting as India is also positioning itself as a major alternative in global technology and supply chains.
Preparations for PM Modi’s France visit are already underway. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently visited France and held talks with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The two leaders discussed the G7 agenda and India’s expected role at the summit.
