Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday delayed his departure from Delhi airport for his residence to avoid inconvenience to students appearing for the
NEET re-examination. The Prime Minister landed in the national capital at around 1:15 pm but chose not to proceed to his residence immediately, keeping in mind the movement of candidates heading to exam centres for the 2 pm test as it may have caused inconvenience. In a gesture aimed at ensuring smooth passage for examinees, PM Modi waited at the airport and left for his residence only after 2 pm, once the examination had commenced.
Re-NEET Begins Under Tight Security
The NEET-UG re-exam began at centres across the country and overseas on Sunday amid tight security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination. The examination is being conducted across 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad. It is being conducted in English and 12 Indian languages. According to NTA, more than 95,000 examination rooms have been equipped with CCTV surveillance.
A total of 1,38,560 CCTV cameras have been installed, with feeds monitored virtually at the national, state and ministry levels, officials said. To secure the examination against electronic malpractice, 51,311 jammers have been deployed.
All About NEET-UG Exam And The Controversy Surrounding It
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 was first conducted on May 3 as scheduled. However, following reports of paper leaks and an internal investigation, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the exam on May 12.
Following this, on May 15 the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the re-examination for NEET UG will be conducted on June 21 (Sunday).
NEET UG is a national-level medical entrance examination in India, which is conducted for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical, dental, and AYUSH courses in government and private institutions.
