United States President Donald Trump once again renewed his claim of ending eight wars across the world, with an attack on the United Nations. Speaking
of his newly proposed 'Board of Peace' which will oversee the rebuilding of Gaza, Trump said that he received no help from the United Nations. Addressing a press conference, US President Donald Trump said, "I wish we didn’t need a Board of Peace; you know, with all the wars I settled, the United Nations never helped me on one war." Trump claimed that he has "ended eight unendable wars in 10 months," and should have got the Nobel Peace Prize for "stopping each of the wars." "Norway controls the shots, it's a joke they have lost such prestige," he said.

What Is Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’?
As part of the second phase of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the US unveiled the 'Board of Peace'. According to the Trump administration, the Board of Peace will play an essential role in fulfilling Trump's 20-point plan of providing strategic oversight, mobilising international resources, and ensuring accountability as "Gaza transitions from conflict to peace and development". He has invited several world leaders to join the proposed grouping.
The White House last week announced forming a founding executive board to operationalise the Board of Peace's vision. The members of the executive committee include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British prime minister Tony Blair, US special envoy to the Middle-East Steve Witkoff, businessman and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and World Bank president Ajay Banga.
Trump vs the United Nations
The Trump administration has often been at odds with the United Nations as it zeroed in on eliminating billions of dollars in funding to international organisations and humanitarian assistance at large. Trump and his allies have accused the global body of not reaching its potential and of having “bloated” and redundant agencies that push “woke” ideology. They have repeatedly expressed frustration with the United Nations and its associated organisations, commissions and advisory boards.
While reacting to Trump's 'Board of Peace', a United Nations spokesperson said the world body has “coexisted” alongside various global institutions and would wait to see “what sort of relationship” it has with the US-led initiative. “The UN has coexisted alongside any number of organisations. There are regional organisations, subregional organisations, and various defence alliances around the world,” Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said.
“Some of them, we have relationship agreements with. Some of them, we don't. We would have to see in terms of details what the Board of Peace becomes as it actually is established to know what sort of relationship we would have with it,” he said.
