What is the story about?
Mumbai's local train services will be affected on both the Central and Western lines this week due to Central Railway's planned mega blocks scheduled from
October 11 to October 14. Trains travelling from Mumbai to Pune will also be affected, as they might get cancelled, diverted, or will be terminated for a short period of time. The Central and Western Railways issued an advisory for commuters, announcing the mega block, including special traffic block and power block, this week. Moreover, the railways also announced a special traffic block and power block for pre-non-interlocking works in connection with Karjat Yard remodelling work from October 11 to October 14.
Affected trains, routes
Thousands of commuters travelling from Mumbai to Pune will face inconvenience this weekend as the traffic block is set to happen between Karjat and Neral for yard reorganisation and pre-non-interlocking work.
List of trains affected on Saturday and Sunday (Oct 11 and 12) is mentioned below:
- Pragati Express
- Deccan Queen
- Deccan Express
- Intercity Express
- Indrayani Express
- Sinhagad Express (only affected on Sunday)
- Mumbai–Solapur–Mumbai Vande Bharat Express (only affected on Sunday)
Moreover, the Solapur–Mumbai Siddheshwar Express will terminate at Pune instead of Mumbai on the same day. People will have to make alternative arrangements for their planned journeys.

Karjat–Neral and Karjat–Khopoli (completely suspended)
Additional three-hour blocks will be taken on October 13 and 14 from 11:20 am to 2:20 pm, leading to suspension in local train operations on the Karjat route during these hours.
Timings, duration of the mega block
- From 12.20 pm on Saturday (Oct 11) to 7.20 am on Sunday (Oct 12)
- From 7.20 am to 6.20 pm on Sunday (Oct 12)
- From 11.20 am to 2.20 pm on Monday (Oct 13), from 11.20 am to 2.20 pm on Tuesday (Oct 14)
Moreover, it is notable to mention that a Jumbo Block of four hours has also been planned on Sunday to carry out maintenance work on tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment.
The block is expected to affect Up Fast lines between Borivali - Ram Mandir stations, as well as on the 5th line between Ram Mandir – Kandivali stations from 10 am to 2 pm.
