The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the death of Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh
Rajput, officials said on Monday. The development comes after the Bombay High Court directed the CBI to take over the probe into Salian's death and questioned the Mumbai Police's investigation into the case. Salian was found dead after allegedly falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area on June 8, 2020. The Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case and later filed a closure report. However, Salian's father approached the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI investigation. He alleged that several aspects of his daughter's death had not been properly investigated by the Mumbai Police. The Bombay High Court, while ordering the CBI probe earlier this month, criticised the Mumbai Police for treating the matter as an accidental death for six years. The court also pointed to what it described as "glaring discrepancies" in the investigation and observed that the probe "raises more questions than answers". Salian's death came just days before Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. The deaths of Salian and Rajput, who had briefly worked together, led to speculation about a possible connection between the two cases. The Maharashtra government had subsequently ordered a CBI probe into Rajput's death. The agency later submitted a closure report concluding that Rajput died by suicide. The report is yet to be considered by the court concerned. The CBI's latest FIR marks the beginning of its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salian's death.
