Mumbai is on yellow alert on Friday as hot and humid weather continues across the city, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The day is expected
to remain uncomfortable, with high moisture levels making the heat feel more intense. The temperature in the city is likely to go up to around 35 degrees C. As of April 17, the maximum temperature is around 31.57 degrees C, while the minimum is close to 25.99 degrees C. Humidity levels are at 51 per cent, adding to the sticky weather conditions. Winds are blowing at a speed of about 51 km/h. The sun rose at 6:19 AM and is expected to set at 6:56 PM. For Saturday, April 18, the weather is expected to remain similar. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 29.35 degrees C, while the maximum may reach 31.94 degrees C. Humidity is expected to rise slightly to 54 per cent , which could make the weather feel even warmer.

Officials have advised people to be careful while stepping out, especially during the afternoon hours. Those who are sensitive to heat should avoid long exposure to the sun and wear light, comfortable clothing. Staying hydrated is also important in such weather.
Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remains in a moderate range. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is recorded at 95, which is generally considered acceptable. However, people with breathing issues are advised to be cautious, especially when going outdoors.
A former IMD climate research head, KS Hosalikar, took to X, stating, "According to the IMD model, the maximum temperature in the state is likely to remain above normal for the next one week, and also, there is a possibility of heatwave-like conditions in some districts within Maharashtra."
He further wrote, "In Vidarbha (42+), Marathwada, Central Maharashtra (38-40), Konkan region with hot and humid (34-36) temperatures."
