A fresh narrative emerging from Iranian state-linked media has claimed that US President Donald Trump has “backed down” in the ongoing Iran conflict, following
Washington’s decision to temporarily halt planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure. The claim gained traction after outlets such as Press TV suggested the pause reflects a retreat under pressure. Has Trump Surrendered?
US President Donald Trump announced a temporary pause on planned military strikes targeting Iranian energy infrastructure, citing “very good and productive conversations” with Iran over the past two days. In a formal statement, Trump said the United States has decided to postpone “any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure” for a period of five days. The move, he added, is contingent upon the continued progress of ongoing discussions aimed at achieving a “complete and total resolution” of hostilities.
"I am please to report that the united states of america, and the country of iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the middle east." Trump said in a post on his Truth Social.
"Based on the tenor and tone of these in depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, witch will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the department of war to postpone any and all military strikes against iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" he added.
The halt suggests a potential diplomatic opening after weeks of heightened conflict and uncertainty. While details of the talks remain undisclosed, Trump described them as “in depth, detailed, and constructive,” with further engagements expected to continue throughout the week.
