A reversing bus of Mumbai's civic-run transport undertaking BEST hit pedestrians on Monday night, leaving four dead and thirteen injured, a police official
said, PTI reported. According to the official, the incident took place at busy Station Road in suburban Bhandup. The injured persons were admitted to a nearby hospital, he added. According to officials, the incident occurred around 9:35 pm on the busy Station Road near Bhandup West railway station. All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Visuals from the spot showed a heavy police presence as emergency teams cordoned off the area.

Driver in custody, probe launched
Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemraj Singh Rajput said that a total of 13 pedestrians were injured in the accident. The driver has been arrested, and a technical investigation of the bus will be conducted.
"Today, around 09:35 PM, a bus accident occurred near Bhandup West railway station. 13 pedestrians were injured in this incident, who we have sent to the hospital. Out of them, four passengers have died, including 3 women and 1 man. The bus driver is in police custody. A mechanical and technical investigation of the bus will be conducted, only after that will the real cause be known," he said.
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) operates a large fleet of buses, covering the city and its neighbouring urban areas.
