The Kremlin said on Tuesday that it has not received any official communication from India regarding a halt in Russian oil purchases, following claims
made by US President Donald Trump. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said Moscow has seen no statements or signals بڑ𝗁 declarations from New Delhi indicating any change in its energy trade policy. Trump had announced on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had agreed to stop buying oil from Russia as part of a broader India–US trade understanding. Responding to those remarks, Peskov said Russia continues to develop its relationship with India “in every way,” signalling that bilateral ties remain intact. While Russia has agreed to continue adhering to the treaty for another year, he warned that failure to renew it would be “very bad for global security.” He added that Moscow’s proposals to renegotiate the agreement remain on the table, but said there has been no response from Washington so far. The announcement, made on Trump’s Truth Social platform, said Washington would cut reciprocal tariffs on Indian exports to 18 per cent and claimed India had agreed to lower barriers on US goods and halt Russian oil imports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the tariff cut as a boost for “Made in India” products, though New Delhi has not commented on the oil-related claims.
