Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday joined the Congress's 'Goy Rakhon Yatra' in Margao, walking two kilometres with workers and leaders. Launching an attack
over the alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and pay the price for 'vote chori'. "The entire country knows that CEC Gyanesh Kumar implements 'vote chori' and Amit Shah and PM Modi back him," Gandhi said while addressing a public gathering at Margao Cricket Club (MCC) ground in Panaji. "PM Modi, Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and pay the price for what they have done," he added. Gandhi said that the Congress is a protector of the Constitution. "...In Delhi, there is a man named Gyanesh Kumar, he cannot sleep at night. Neither can Modi-ji nor Amit Shah. They know that, sooner or later, the Congress party will hold them to account and ensure justice is served...We are the guardians, the protectors of the Constitution; that is our sacred duty. By stealing votes, they have attacked the Constitution, they have attacked our sacred duty, and we will not accept this," Gandhi said. He accused the Chief Election Commissioner of "implementing the theft of votes," alleging that while "Amit Shah operationalises it, Narendra Modi orchestrates the entire plan from behind the scenes." Attacking the ruling-BJP government in Goa, Gandhi alleged, "...There is extreme corruption here; in fact, Goa might well be the most corrupt state in the entire country...These people have turned Goa into a 'model' for corruption." Congress launched 27-day-long 'Goy Rakhon Yatra' (campaign to protect Goa) led by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Goa Pradesh Congress committee president Girish Chodankar. The Congress said it is is a movement to safeguard the state's land, environment, cultural heritage and identity. The yatra began on September 22 and culminated on Sunday. It covered all 40 Assembly constituencies in the coastal state with the aim of strengthening the Congress' grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 assembly polls.
