With Bengaluru grappling with soaring temperatures, a viral video has sparked conversation online after a resident came up with an unconventional way to
escape the heat, by booking a hotel room for a day. Priya Pal, who lives in the city, shared a clip on Instagram showing herself unwinding in an air-conditioned hotel room, far from the sweltering conditions outside. The video reveals her relaxing indoors, highlighting the lengths people are going to find relief amid the ongoing heatwave. A text overlay in the clip mentions that the hotel was located close to her home and was booked specifically to beat the heat, underlining how difficult it has become to stay comfortable without proper cooling at home. In the comments section, Priya elaborated on her decision. She explained that they had initially been expecting rainfall, which never arrived. When they attempted to purchase a cooler or an air conditioner, she said everything was out of stock and would take nearly a week to be delivered. She also noted that renting cooling appliances was not an option in her locality due to high demand. Eventually, they placed an order for a cooler online but chose to spend Sunday at a hotel in the meantime. Instead of stepping out, they stayed in, watched Netflix, and relaxed, a decision she said worked out well. In her caption, Priya expressed frustration over the situation, saying she could no longer manage without air conditioning.
The video quickly gained traction on social media, drawing mixed reactions. While many users found her solution relatable given the extreme weather, others reacted with humour and disbelief.
One user commented, "Buying or renting an AC would be much better." Another user noted, "I want this much money in life." "I think about doing this when theres a power cut," added a third user.
