India has extended the closure of its airspace to Pakistan-registered planes and aircraft operated or leased by Pakistani airlines, including military
flights, until September 24. Pakistan has also extended the closure of its airspace for Indian aircraft until the same date. Both countries issued separate Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) announcing the extensions. The airspace curbs were first imposed by India on April 30 following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people on April 22. The closure was initially set to last until May 24 but has since been extended monthly. The latest Indian NOTAM, issued on August 22, states that Pakistani planes will be barred from Indian airspace until 11:59 PM UTC on September 23, which corresponds to 5:30 AM IST on September 24. A NOTAM is a notice providing essential information for personnel involved in flight operations. The curbs are part of broader measures taken by India against Pakistan in response to the terror attack. Pakistan issued its NOTAM on August 20, extending restrictions on Indian aircraft.
