New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday (July 30) slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre during a discussion
on the Anti-Papr leak bill, arguing that the legislation merely repackages the old law with revised provisions. The Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha asserted that meaningful reform would come only through improvements in the way examinations are conducted, not by introducing stricter penalties alone. "So many innocent people suffered due to paper leaks... 'Nothing Going To Happen... Bill Brought to Pacify Youth on Streets': Kharge Tears Into BJP Over Paper-Leaks, with this new bill, as only some data has been changed in the old law. Provisions have been made for hefty fine, strict punishment, special task force, fast track courts, however, nothing is going to change," the Congress president stated. "Real change will only happen how you conduct examinations. There is nothing new in the bill. We had demanded a strict law in 2024 itself, but our demand was rejected," he added. The LoP even stated that the bill was introduced just to pacify youth, rather than resolving the issue. "Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) The amendment bill has been brought to pacify youth on streets, not to resolve the paper leak," Kharge said. While speaking on the alleged police crackdown on NEET protesters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Kharge hit out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah., He said that Shah should give answers or resign. "The Home Minister must answer or resign," the Congress president said.
