New Delhi: India will mark its 79th Independence Day on Friday, 15 August 2025, with celebrations planned in every corner of the country. The grandest
event will take place at Delhi’s historic Red Fort, where the Prime Minister will unfurl the national flag and deliver a speech to the nation. Preparations are already in full swing for the occasion, which draws thousands of citizens each year. For those wishing to attend the ceremony in person, seats can now be reserved through both online and offline booking options.
Online Ticket Booking
Online reservations will open on 13 August via the Ministry of Defence’s official portals — aamantran.mod.gov.in and e-invitations.mod.gov.in.Steps for booking:
- Visit either of the official websites.
- Select the option for ‘Independence Day 2025 Ticket Booking’.
- Fill in your name, mobile number, and the number of tickets required.
- Upload a valid ID proof such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport.
- Choose your ticket category — ₹20 (General), ₹100 (Standard), or ₹500 (Premium).
Make the payment via debit/credit card or UPI. - Download the e-ticket, which will have a QR code and seating information.
- Keep a digital copy or a printout to present at the entry gate.
Offline Ticket Booking
Physical tickets will be available from 10 to 12 August at select government offices and special counters in Delhi. Buyers must carry a valid photo ID, and payments can be made in cash or digitally. Prices remain the same as online bookings. Since tickets are limited, arriving early is advised.
Event Day Guidelines
The Independence Day programme will begin at 7:30 AM, with entry between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM. On the day, Delhi Metro services will start at 4:00 AM, and the closest stations to the venue are Lal Qila (Violet Line) and Chandni Chowk (Yellow Line), as per a NDTV report.
Visitors must carry their ticket and original ID for security checks. Authorities have urged attendees to travel light and follow all official instructions due to heightened security arrangements.
