BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty on Tuesday issued a warning to Pakistan's Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over his remarks on Indus Waters Treaty, saying, "Agar aisi
baatein karte rahenge aur hamari khopdi sanak gayi toh phir ek ke baad ek BrahMos chalega." Continuing his barb, Chakraborty said, "We have also thought of building a dam where 140 crore people will pee. After that, we will open the dam, and a tsunami will occur. I have nothing against the people of Pakistan. I have said all of this for him (Bilawal Bhutto)."
Bilawal Bhutto had on Tuesday claimed that the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty was an "attack on the history, culture and civilisation" of the country - particularly Sindh.
“If Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces an attack on Indus, he attacks our history, our culture and our civilisation,” Bilawal was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune. “The people of Pakistan have the strength to confront Modi in the event of war,” he added.
Bilawal's remarks came just hours after Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir issued a nuclear threat from American soil, saying Islamabad could use its nuclear weapons to take down "half the world", including India, in case of an existential threat.
"We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we will take half the world down with us," he said. "We will wait for India to build a dam, and when they do so, we will destroy it," he added.
Munir made his remarks while on a visit to US.
The MEA hit back saying Pakistan had shown its "true colours."
"Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan's stock-in-trade," the MEA said, adding that whenever the US supports Pakistan military, it shows its true colours.
