The Himachal Chief Minister has announced the finalised dress code for student uniforms, teachers, and the colour scheme for Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE) school buildings across the state. At the official meeting of the Education Department on Thursday, which was chaired by the CM of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, it was decided that students in the CBSE schools will have a distinct uniform based on a green colour scheme. The CM, through an official X post, informed that the female teachers will wear a light lilac purple dress while the male teachers will wear light blue trousers and a shirt.
School Buildings to be Painted in Olive Green
The minister added that the buildings of these schools will be painted in olive green and sand beige shades. He also said that the dress code for teachers would be neat, formal, modest and professional, with minimal accessories. The teachers will also wear their identity cards while on duty.
MLAs Suresh Kumar, Chandra Shekhar and Neeraj Nayyar, along with Vijay Pal Singh, Member of the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission, and other senior officials, were present at the official meeting of the education department.
The Chief Minister said that the state government will provide quality education in schools, ensuring students have access to quality educational facilities closer to their homes.
Further, the state government had released Rs 80 crore to improve the facilities and necessary infrastructure in the CBSE schools and strengthen facilities for students and teachers.
He added that an additional Rs 5 crore will also be released for these schools to improve the educational environment and to ensure that students receive quality education at their doorsteps, the CM said.
Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Welfare Association (HPUTWA) staged a protest against the Himachal Pradesh Universities (Amendment) Bill 2026. The association has raised concerns over university autonomy, academic freedom and institutional functioning.
