A few days into 2026, and social media has already time-travelled to 2016. Instagram, TikTok, and other social media apps are filled with throwback pictures
highlighting how life was a decade ago. The difference in the way they looked, the friendships they had, and the hobbies they nurtured is quite visible through their posts. Recently, Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, and Ananya Panday have too hopped onto the trend. Taking to their Instagram handles, they shared sneak peeks from the year 2016, displaying their early lives, careers, and priorities from ten years ago. While their posts may have given you an idea of their personal lives, their academic backgrounds are yet to be discovered. Kareena Kapoor Born in 1980 to Babita and Randhir Kapoor, Kareena's educational background is diverse. At first, she attended the Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai for her primary education, but later on, she shifted to Welham Girls' School in Dehradun. Since childhood, Kareena received good scores (except Mathematics), even though academics didn't appeal to her. After graduation, she came back to Mumbai and enrolled at Mithibai College for a commerce degree. Later on, she developed a keen interest in law, which led to her admission to Government Law College, Mumbai. However, because of her sudden but lingering urge to learn acting, she quit college to join the Film and Television Institute of India. Alia Bhatt Born in 1993 to Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, Alia Bhatt also attended the Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai. However, she dropped out of the 12th standard to pursue acting. Ananya Pandey Born in 1998 to Chunky Pandey and Bhavna Pandey, Ananya Pandey did her schooling at the infamous Dhirubhai Ambani International School until 2017. Later on, she was accepted by the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC for a major in Communication in the Spring 2018 semester. However, due to her debut movie, Ananya had to defer her admission twice, which she herself confirmed via her Instagram. Dismissing the rumours of her fake admission, Ananya wrote, "I didn’t want to do this. I didn’t feel like I needed to explain myself to anyone, but the rumours that I faked my admission at USC have been doing the rounds for a while now. They've been getting out of hand, and it’s even more unfair and sad that my family and friends have to go through this. As I've stated earlier, I was accepted by the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC for a major in Communication in the Spring 2018 semester. But since I was shooting for my first film and the release date later got pushed, I had to request a deferral (which means postponing my admission) twice."
