Bengaluru: Imagine leaving home early to beat the traffic—only to move just 400 meters in 20 minutes. That’s exactly what happened to a Bengaluru techie
whose midweek commute nightmare has gone viral, once again fueling the debate around work-from-home (WFH) flexibility on Wednesdays. In a post that resonated with hundreds online, the tech worker shared how he left early to catch a 7:30 AM bus, only to reach the stop by 8:15 AM due to heavy traffic. Despite boarding a bus, he had barely travelled a few hundred metres in the following 20 minutes. To make matters worse, Volvo buses — a key mode of commute for many professionals — were either unavailable or operating at extremely low frequency. ‘’ I was thinking of taking an off, but I feel like they’ll just fire me at this point. They also don’t have wfh option. Oh how I wish I could be working remotely. I’m working towards that aim but till then,’’ the post read.
Badly stuck in wednesday traffic. Did everything right, left early as well. But I’ve covered only 400m in the past 20 mins 😭

With Wednesday traffic now becoming synonymous with chaos, many are questioning why WFH isn’t being considered as a long-term solution — not just for productivity, but for sanity.
Here’s How Social Media Reacted:
‘’ 45minutes to reach the bus stop is insane! Goodluck on your job search OP, remote jobs are shrinking by the minute and are an endangered species at this point,’’ a user wrote.‘’ Took me 90 minutes each time to cross varthur yesterday. At morning 10 and evening 7,’’ a second user mentioned.
‘’ Sorry Bangalore. The politicians and the civic body killed you. You were once so beautiful,’’ a third user wrote.
‘’ Good thing I took WFH today. I left the office at 3:30 yesterday and reached home at 4:30. It took 1 hour to commute just 6 km. The road looks like a pond after just 1 hour of rain. The sheer amount of negligence shown by the State Govt and BBMP towards East Bangalore despite it being the cash cow is disgusting,’’ a fourth user said.
