The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has expelled MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha following developments in the ongoing signature controversy case. The action
came shortly after Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the two MLAs had informed the Assembly Speaker that their signatures were forged on a proposal letter. Based on allegations of mismatch in handwriting, an FIR was registered at Hare Street Police Station, and the case was later taken over by the CID. Meanwhile, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee has also been summoned by the CID in connection with the same case, officials said.
