Mumbai Rains: Mumbai woke up to patchy but sharp spells of rain on Monday morning, with showers sweeping across parts of the city and its neighbouring
regions, while a thick layer of haze lingered over some pockets, raising fresh questions over whether this sudden wet spell is here to stay. Early morning showers were reported from several eastern and north-eastern suburbs of Mumbai, including Andheri, Powai, Kurla and Ghatkopar. However, the rain remained hit-or-miss in parts of the western suburbs, while South Mumbai stayed largely dry. Weather observers tracking the system said the rain belt initially focused on the eastern side of the city and is expected to shift further east as the morning progresses.
Thane, Navi Mumbai See Early Showers
Neighbouring areas were not spared. Light to moderate rain was reported in Thane and Navi Mumbai around 6.50 am, adding to damp road conditions during peak office hours.
7:03 AM - So far rain has targetted East & North east parts. Andheri, Powai got hit/miss rains. Kurla & Ghatkopar as well.
Intensity will shift towards eastern parts. South Mumbai all clear so far. Stay tuned for live updates #MumbaiRains https://t.co/KpikB7jRqv— Mumbai Rains (@rushikesh_agre_) January 27, 2026
Commuters in these regions reported brief spells of rain rather than sustained downpours, though localised waterlogging cannot be ruled out if showers intensify.
Even as rain clouds hovered over parts of the city, a visible layer of heavy haze was observed over the Wadala area. The combination of moisture and haze made for a gloomy start to the day, especially in low-lying and industrial pockets.
What the Weather Data Shows
According to the latest weather data, Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of around 31–32°C and a minimum close to 18–19°C, with high humidity levels touching over 90% in the morning hours. Despite the showers, no rainfall accumulation was officially recorded at the main weather station by 8.30 am.
Sunset is expected around 6.28 pm, while sunrise on Tuesday is likely at 7.14 am.
Will the Rains Continue?
The seven-day forecast suggests largely clear to partly cloudy skies after today, with no weather warnings issued for Mumbai and adjoining regions. While brief, localised showers may still pop up due to lingering moisture, widespread or prolonged rainfall is unlikely over the coming days.
Temperatures are expected to remain stable, with daytime highs hovering around 30–31°C and nights staying relatively pleasant.
For now, Mumbai residents can expect intermittent rain mainly in the eastern suburbs, with conditions improving as the day progresses. Commuters are advised to stay alert during morning travel hours, especially in rain-prone pockets, while the city braces for humid but mostly dry days ahead.
