The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the examination date for the NEET PG and NEET MDS 2026 exams. This has ended
the long wait for thousands of students who were waiting for the full schedule of these two big exams conducted by NBEMS. As per the schedule released by NBE today (January 22), the NEET PG 2026 exam will be held on August 30 (Sunday), and the cut-off date of completion of internship for this will be September 30, 2026. Similarly, the exam for NEET MDS 2026 will be held on May 2, 2026 (Saturday), for which the cut-off date of completion of internship for this will be May 31, 2026.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) also clarified that NEET PG 2026 and NEET MDS 2026 will be conducted on a Computer Based Platform at various test centers across the country.
This time, the date is expected to not change like last year. In 2025, the NEET PG 2025 exam date was initially announced for June 15, 2025, but was postponed to August 3, 2025, in a single shift, following a Supreme Court directive for fairness and transparency, with this final date announced around early June 2025 after the NBE's application for an extension was approved. The initial announcement was made around March 2025, after which on May 30, the Supreme Court directed the exam to be held in a single shift on June 15. It was finally on August 3 when the exam was held. Following this, NEET PG 2025 result was officially declared by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on August 19, 2025.
Why is NEET PG, NEET MDS conducted?
NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate) is held for admission into MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery), and PG Diploma courses. Similarly, NEET MDS (for dental graduates) is conducted for admission into MDS (Master of Dental Surgery).
