Getting covered in algae is not exactly the best thing that can happen to you– but the case with this snake seems to be a bit different, as algae growing
on its back only made it further beautiful– or so is what the internet says! An old video recently resurfaced on social media, leaving the internet intrigued, confused, and even amused. The clip showed a snake covered in algae, resulting in it looking like a ‘dragon’! The reptile was inside a tank-like structure, filled with water. The snake, swimming in the clear water, only further made it look like a dragon flying in the air. The video is old, but it is going viral again. As per the Bangkok Post, the reptile was a ‘puffy-faced water snake’ that was living inside a swamp for long enough that algae eventually flourished on its scales. As per an expert at Wildlife ARC, the algae will come off once the snake sheds its skin. As soon as the video went viral, netizens began to react. Most found the snake beautiful, while others were shocked. Many also expressed their concerns over the reptile’s discomfort. Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post. Check out the viral post: “A snake covered in algae,” the post read. The post was shared on Reddit, by the handle 'goswamitulsidas’. The post was shared today and pulled more than 21K views from people.
Internet's reactions:
“How does this even happen,” a user said. “I always thought his scales were gross for some reason as a kid,” commented another person. “This is the most scary yet beautiful thing I have seen today,” added another person.

“Looks like a moving Christmas Tree Branch. Does the Algie grow on the snake, or does the snack intentionally use it for camouflage? (Or is it AI),” commented the next person in the comments section.
“Clean him! The algae is probably interfering with his shedding and he could be in a lot of discomfort,” wrote the next person. “I guess it's just a puff faced water snake with algae on it,” added another.
