ferry carrying over 350 people sank in the southern Philippines on Monday, said local media reports.
The ferry, identified as M/V Trisha Kerstin 3, was carrying 359 people when it went down while traveling from Zamboanga City to Jolo Island. Authorities said the vessel experienced technical problems before sinking in rough sea conditions.
Rescue teams have saved at least 215 passengers so far. Search and rescue operations continued on Monday as crews looked for those still missing.
Survivors were taken to nearby islands, where they received medical attention. The Philippine Coast Guard and local responders joined the rescue efforts.
The cause of the ferry’s technical failure has not yet been confirmed, and an investigation has been launched.
