The war between Russia and Ukraine intensified further on Sunday, with both sides striking critical targets: Kyiv faced a massive drone and missile assault,
with its Cabinet building on fire, while Ukraine hit the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia’s Bryansk region, signaling a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict. Smoke billowed from the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv after a mass drone and missile strike hit the Ukrainian capital, the Associated Press reported. Officials confirmed that at least two people were killed and 11 others injured in the attack. Among the dead was a one-year-old child, whose body was pulled from the rubble by rescuers, said Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s city administration. It was not immediately clear whether the smoke came from a direct hit on the Cabinet building, which would mark a significant escalation in Russia’s air campaign, AP reported. So far, Russia has avoided striking government buildings in the city center. This attack marks the second mass drone and missile strike on Kyiv in just two weeks, as hopes for peace talks continue to fade.
Ukraine Blows Up Russian Oil Pipeline
Ukraine, in turn, blew up the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia's Bryansk region, a key transit route supplying Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia. Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's drone forces, said the strike caused “comprehensive fire damage” to the pipeline.
