What is the story about?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened a limited correction window for NEET UG 2026 re-exam candidates to update their present address and exam city
preferences ahead of the June 21 re-test. However, with the deadline set for May 21 at 11:50 pm, students are being advised not to wait until the last moment to make changes. The correction facility was introduced after the NEET UG 2026 examination was cancelled following the paper leak controversy. NTA has clarified that candidates can modify only their present address and first two preferred exam cities through the official website, while all other application details will remain unchanged. NEET UG Correction Facility: Avoid These Mistakes
As lakhs of students prepare to reappear for the medical entrance exam on June 21, candidates are advised to avoid the following common mistakes that could create confusion later during admit card allotment.
- One of the biggest errors students make is selecting exam cities based on preference rather than convenience. Aspirants who have shifted cities after the original exam are advised to choose centres closer to their current residence to avoid travel stress and last-minute logistical issues.
- Students are also being warned against skipping the final submission step after editing details. Merely changing the city preference without clicking “submit” may leave the old preferences unchanged in the system.
- Another common mistake is entering an incorrect present address. Since the revised admit card and communication may depend on updated details, candidates should carefully verify spellings, PIN codes and state information before saving the form.
- Candidates should also avoid waiting until the final hours of May 21. Heavy traffic on the portal may slow down the website, increasing the chances of incomplete submissions or login failures. Several education portals have advised students to complete corrections early and keep screenshots or confirmation pages for future reference.
It is expected that NTA will issue fresh hall tickets for the re-NEET UG exam two to three days before the examination date. Meanwhile, the advanced city intimation slips will be issued about 10 days before the exam with updates city preferences.
The NEET UG 2026 re-exam is scheduled to be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm in pen-and-paper mode. Fresh admit cards are expected to be released later through the official NTA portal.
