New Delhi: In view of security concerns surrounding public safety, VIP movement and sensitive locations, the Delhi Police have imposed a ban on the use
of sub-conventional aerial platforms in the National Capital Territory ahead of Independence Day 2025. The order, which came into effect on 2 August, prohibits the use of equipment such as drones, UAVs, microlight aircraft, para-gliders, para-motors, hang gliders, quadcopters, hot air balloons, and similar flying devices. The restrictions also apply to para-jumping activities from aircraft.

Authorities say these aerial objects could pose a threat to the safety of the public and dignitaries, especially during national celebrations. The ban will remain in place for 15 days, until 16 August 2025, unless withdrawn earlier by the administration.
Strict action will be taken against violators under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the updated criminal law code.
The police have urged residents and event organisers to adhere to the restrictions and avoid using any prohibited aerial platforms during this period. Security measures have been tightened across Delhi in preparation for the Independence Day celebrations on 15 August.
