Several classrooms at a government Urdu school in Varthur, Bengaluru, are reportedly in a dangerous condition, with around 70 per cent of the classrooms closed
due to damaged and falling roofs, according to an X post by the Cockroach Janta Party. CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka, in a post on X, said students at the Government Urdu School in Varthur continue to attend classes in rooms that are at risk of collapsing. He also claimed that students told him that a portion of the roof had already fallen on them. “70% of the classrooms in Govt Urdu School, Varthur, Bengaluru are closed because of falling roofs,” Ranka said in the post, questioning how the government could allow the school to function despite the alleged safety risks. The issue comes days after another classroom roof collapse in Karnataka reportedly injured six students.
Roof collapse raises school safety concerns
CJP, through its official X handle, said that a classroom roof collapsed in Karnataka on September 2, injuring six students. The organisation alleged that despite the incident, students continue to be made to study in unsafe conditions.
The posts have raised concerns over the safety of students studying in government-run schools and the condition of school infrastructure.
Ranka questioned whether the government was adequately addressing the risks posed by damaged school buildings and called attention to the potential danger faced by students and teachers.
The allegations come amid broader concerns over the maintenance of government school buildings, particularly classrooms with damaged roofs and other structural issues.
